Shown is a listing of the more commonly used “A” Chord positions.
Fig.1 The most common “A Chord” is the Open A Major Chord which is played off the open A string.
Fig.2. A variation of the Open A Chord is the “A Power Chord” in which only the 4th &5th strings are played. This Chord is easy to play and is used a lot in Rock music. It is also known as the” Power 5th” as it uses only the 1st & 5th Degree of the A Major Scale.
Fig.3. The “A Bar Chord” is played using the E SHAPE at the 5th fret. The Root note is the “A Note” on the 5th fret of the 6th string.
