Tuneup tune up often
-Many songs use a Riff as a hook for a song by playing the Riff over top of (or in place of) a chord.
This makes the tune unique and a lot more memorable.

-The following exercise demonstrates the simple Chord Progression first then substitutes the Riff for the “E Chord”.

Video 1. Practise playing a Riff in place of the “E Chord” in this 12 bar E-A-B7 chord progression.
Adding this Riff adds character to the song. First the Chords are played then the Riff is played slowly so you can learn it finally the Riff is played in the song.
