-The Saddle is a part of the Bridge and supports the strings at the body.  It’s height determines the string height above the fretboard and the guitar’s playability (action).

-On acoustic guitars the Saddle transfers string vibration through the Bridge to the top wood of the Body.

-The Saddle is typically made from plastic or bone on acoustic guitars and metal on electrics.

-The Saddle is set at a slight angle to achieve proper intonation.
