 Fig.1. The Sound Hole is located on the Body of the guitar, usually underneath the strings.

 -It may be any shape or number but by far the most common is One Round Sound Hole.

-The hollow body of the guitar acts as a resonant cavity when the string is picked.  The sound is then projected from the Sound Hole.

-The Sound Hole is decorated with inlays.

–  The Truss Rod adjusting nut may be accessed through the Sound Hole.  Fig. 2.

Fig. 2  Shows how the Neck is attached to an acoustic guitar.
Note: In this example the Truss Rod is adjusted through the sound Hole.
